Copper Laser Cutting

Our fibre optic laser technology cuts through traditionally tricky ‘yellow metals’ with ease.

How is laser cutting copper different from other metals?

Copper laser cutting has traditionally been a difficult process. Classed as a ‘yellow metal’ alongside bronze and brass, these metals are both highly reflective which reduces the efficiency of the laser beam and extremely conductive, conducting the heat away from where the laser makes contact, also impacting its ability to cut.

At Yorkshire Laser our fibre optic laser technology overcomes this by producing nitrogen cutting gas enabling even the most reflective metals, up to a standard 2000mm x 1000mm and 6mm maximum thickness, to be effectively cut. Our Laser cutting services are accurate, precise and efficient.

Fibre optic laser technology

Using cutting-edge fibre optic laser technology, we deliver precise and efficient copper cutting with unmatched accuracy and speed.

High-quality cut edge

Our copper laser cutting service ensures a high-quality cut edge - smooth, precise, and ready for fabrication.

Designed for reflective metals

Copper laser cutting uses fibre laser technology specifically suited to highly reflective metals, allowing copper sheets to be cut safely and accurately where traditional machining methods struggle.

High precision for complex shapes

Focused laser beams enable clean cutting of complex shapes and fine details, producing precision parts that remain consistent across single components or repeat production.

Other benefits of copper laser cutting at Yorkshire Laser

Faster turnaround than traditional methods

Laser cutting copper reduces setup time and machining stages compared to conventional cutting processes, supporting quicker delivery.

Compatible with multi-metal fabrication

Copper laser cutting can be combined with stainless steel or mild steel fabrication within the same project, simplifying production workflows.

Excellent edge quality on copper sheet

Laser cutting copper delivers a clean surface finish with minimal burring, reducing the need for secondary processing before fabrication or assembly.

Controlled heat input during cutting

Using infrared laser light and nitrogen cutting gas helps manage heat transfer in highly conductive materials, protecting surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

Suitable for a wide range of thicknesses

From thin copper sheets to thicker material, fibre laser cutting offers reliable cut quality across varying thicknesses without compromising edge finish.

Consistent results across yellow metals

The same laser technology used for copper laser cutting can also be applied to brass and bronze, ensuring consistent quality across yellow metals and other materials.

Why use Yorkshire Laser?
