YORKSHIRE Laser has a new team driving quality assurance as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring consistent high standards for customers.
Michelle Sokell joined us earlier in the year as Quality Supervisor and she has recently been joined by Michael Spence as Quality Inspector.
Yorkshire Laser has a strong reputation for delivering exceptional quality at great value. Michelle and Michael’s appointment will help to build on this, ensuring we hit the mark for our customers time and time again.
Michelle comes to us after 28 years with a lighting manufacturer in Doncaster where she started off on the production lines and worked her way up through the business to become Quality Manager. Her move to Yorkshire Laser sees her reunited with former colleague Cheryl Reidy, our Director of Operations.
“I am putting to good use the tools I learned in my previous role but in an environment which is more hands-on, where everyone works together to get products to customers as and how they want them,” commented Michelle whose outside interests include gardening, walking her dog and going to the cinema.
“I like the flexibility and support there is here. People will work with you to implement good ideas and new ways of working which not only drive quality performance but improves processes for our team members.”
She added: “Our aim is always to get it Right First Time, catching any glitches early so we can correct them before product leaves the shopfloor. We will be working together to root cause where errors may be occurring, so we can improve processes, reduce margin for error and continue to grow the company.”
Michael Spence was a Quality Inspector at a hip replacement business before he joined us. His role involves inspecting a cross section of parts produced before they go for painting or are dispatched to customers.
“I’ve not worked in the fabrication industry before, so this role offers me a different challenge which I’m enjoying. The nature of the business means everyday is different which is great,” said Michael who, outside of work, enjoys photography and going for country walks with a good pub meal on route.
Yorkshire Laser MD Matt Orford welcomed Michelle and Michael to the team.

There is, however, always room for improvement and we are delighted to have Michelle and Michael on board, providing fresh input and helping us drive our quality performance forward.”
