Sheet metal fabricator invests in new press brake

Date: 29/09/2020

A NEW press brake is helping to ramp up capacity and deliver greater consistency and shorter lead times for customers at Yorkshire’s premier sheet metal fabricator.

We have invested some £1.7m in new manufacturing technology at Yorkshire Laser and Fabrication this year. As well as new state-of-the-art laser cutting technology, we have added an automated press brake to our manufacturing toolbox increasing the fabrication options open to our customers.

The press brake is used to bend all kinds of metals to form boxes, brackets, hinges and multiple other containers and components of varying shapes and sizes.

Its versatility means considerable time is traditionally spent in tooling setup and programming. Our new press brake – an Amada hybrid bending machine with Automated Tool Changer (ATC) – revolutionises all that.

Its automatic tool changing function provides highly efficient and precise setups for even the most complex tool layouts, vastly reducing setup time and enabling rapid turnaround between jobs. This is helping to drive up capacity at YLF leading to reduced lead times and increased price competitiveness for customers.

Designed to produce different sized batches, the new press brake can process numerous parts, materials and thicknesses with consistent high precision. As it’s also able to store more programmes, our customers can be confident that repeat orders will be accurate and to the consistent high standard that they’ve come to expect from YLF.
